These are KGNU official policies for on-air people.
Show transitions
This is KGNU's official policy on transitions between DJs and programs that run over: Underlying principle: Programming at KGNU is a whole, not a collection of disparate parts.
The audience needs a sense of continuity and listenable transitions.
Programs should be run as scheduled. Program hosts and DJs should aim to wrap up their programs two minutes before the next program is scheduled, to ensure timeliness.
If you have begun a pre-recorded program late, you must inform the next programmer of the impending delay.
If you are the host or DJ of the next program, you should allow the delayed program to be completed if it is within five minutes of its scheduled end time. This is particularly true if your show is lengthy, i.e., an hour or longer. However, on occasion, there may be a compelling time issue with your program which will necessitate cutting the preceding, delayed program before its conclusion, such as if your program is:
A live program off the satellite
Breaking news
Another pre-recorded program. If you must cut the preceding program, do so with sensitivity to the listener, i.e., don't end it in mid-sentence, and try to find a good place to conclude. If it's music, pot it down slowly, not abruptly.
Even if your show gets started late, do all you can to end it on time.
